"New Cluster Policies for Central Europe and beyond" International Conference, February 17, 2014, Brussels

The international conference „New Cluster Policies for Central Europe and beyond” will take place on 17th February 2014 in Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg to the European Union Rue Belliard 60 – 62, B - 1040 Brussels.

The conference aims at discussing new cluster concepts for cluster policy in Europe. In the light of the upcoming challenges at European level including demographic change, climate change etc. clusters will have to adapt their way of traditional clustering in order to be able to come up with solutions required by the new markets and societies. Clusters are an important innovation factor for regions.

In the morning session of the conference three Key Note Speakers will set the scene for the current challenges in Europe with a special regard to clusters. Three different focuses have been set: the future European challenges, Smart Specialization and Key Enabling Technologies.

In the afternoon session the participants will be able to learn from best practices from the Central Europe region and beyond. In the framework of the strategic Central Europe project called CluStrat new cluster concepts have been developed and tested in pilot actions. Best practices will be presented and discussed, also from the outside of the CE area. A special focus will be on how these results can be directly transferred into other regions, especially the Danube region.
