Seminar Invitation: EU-Japan Clusters Policies toward SMEs Innovation, 15.02.2011

EU SMEs and Clusters-related stakeholders are invited to attend the seminar called “EU-Japan Clusters Policies toward SMEs’ Innovation” that will be held on the 15^th of February 2011 in Brussels, at European Commission headquarters.

The seminar will be to bring together European Commission and Japanese Government representatives involved in SME and Cluster cross-border cooperation to work together to identify the barriers to greater SME and cluster cooperation, in order to seek opportunities for cooperation, forecast trends and if possible make "fact-based" decisions.

Some objectives of the seminar are: to promote cooperation between EU and Japanese Clusters and SMEs in R&D and technology transfer ; to work on topics such as SMEs, Innovation and Clusters policies but from different industrial policy perceptive and approaches ; to state on the SMEs’ participation level (in EU and in Japan) in innovative projects wherein Clusters are involved ; to compare the situation of SMEs’ financing process in innovative and Clusters projects in Japan and the EU (local, national, international) ; to study the commercialisation system in a Japanese cluster: How to smoothly connect Academia with Industry? And what about the EU?
