Research and Development Center, with 2.000 specialists, opened in Timisoara

In Timisoara operates one of the most important centers of research and development in the automotive sector throughout Europe. Built by leading industry investors in Timisoara, the center hosts 2.000 specialists.

Continental one of the biggest suppliers in automotive inaugurated on November 19 a new research and development center in Timisoara. The building has 30.000 square meters and accommodates nearly 2.000 employees. The total investment amounts to 20 million Euro.

The event was attended by a number of officials: Klaus Christian Olasz, the Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Timisoara, Eugene Dogariu, the Prefect of Timis County, Nicolae Robu, the Mayor of Timisoara, Ovidiu Gant, the representative of the German minority in the Romanian Parliament.

The Automotive Group Divisions (Chassis & Safety, Interior, Powertrain) develop and produce innovative software and hardware: engine management systems, transmission control units, electronic braking systems, radio navigation and multimedia systems, vehicle control units hybrid chassis control units, digital tachographs, airbag control units and on-board tools.

The three research and development centers in Timisoara, Sibiu and Iasi and the three factories in Timisoara, Sibiu and Brasov represent an investment of nearly 235 million Euro, generating more than 5.200 jobs.
